In a brilliant display of invincible ignorance, Time Magazine’s eight page documentary on the massive, Catholic Latino defections to Protestantism concludes that Latinos are primarily pouring into Protestant churches to find “a closer relationship with God.” (April 15, 2013)
One cannot ignore the fact that for many Latinos, a quicker assimilation into Protestant America does result from joining their churches. A further incentive has been receiving family, financial assistance. We shall, however, focus on the old adage that Latinos, while trying to assimilate into American culture, are throwing out the baby with the bathwater.
In sundering their ties with the Catholic Church, the Latino is primarily denying Christ four times! They begin by rejecting the Living Christ and the power of the Confessional and then continue by rejecting their Blessed Mother. Lastly, they abandon the Churches’ direct bond between the living and the dead in the visible society that is Holy Mother Church. In so doing, they reject all their Latino ancestry in Purgatory.
To join a Protestant sect is to abandon the Living Christ, the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ – to intimately ingest Him into our own body and to relive through this LIVING (as opposed to a commemorative) Sacrifice, Christ’s Passion, Death and Resurrection. Why one would abandon the LIVING Christ for Biblical readings about the life of Christ is unfathomable!
Equally lost to a defecting Latino are the merits and grace of the Confessional. Now he must bear the burden of his sins throughout a lifetime and forego the pure joy of facing life with a liberated soul.
By denying Mary, Queen of Heaven, our own Blessed Mother, our continual and personal intercessor with the Lord, Our Lady of Guadalupe, Our Lady of Lourdes, and Our Lady of Fatima, the Latino substitutes for the Queen of Heaven, the merely biological mother of Christ. In effect, she is demoted to a mere ovarian holder!
The Holy Roman Catholic Church, from its very inception, one thousand, five hundred years before Luther’s Re-Formation, has continued to honor Mary’s role in the salvation of mankind by teaching us obedience to God, as She proclaimed, “Be it done to me according to Thy will.”
Pio Nono, Blessed Pius IX, confirmed and included as a Dogma of the Catholic Church the teaching, from very early times, that Mary was conceived without sin in the glorious Dogma, The Immaculate Conception of Mary, proclaimed in 1856. Later on, Pius XII confirmed that due to Mary’s freedom from Original Sin, she was assumed into heaven, body and soul, to be crowned Queen of Heaven in the profound Dogma of the Assumption of Mary.
The Latino again, in joining a Protestant sect, abandons the deceased members of his own family, be it father, mother, grandparents, brothers and sisters or uncles and aunts whom they might have assisted in Purgatory.
The Holy Roman Catholic Church is a visible society of the living and the dead where the living are able to pray for their departed loved ones in Purgatory, unlike Protestants who deny the very existence of Purgatory. Their defection severs the Catholic continual, communal tie to all the living and dead dear to us. The Church also prays for those forgotten souls who have no one to remember them.
Latinos of all the Americas’, COME HOME TO US!
